Now Upstairs, you’ll find tatine’s ambient candles with a subtle, aromatic gesture for the table. This collection is inspired by the DaDa art movement, created to evoke an atmospheric, visual or unobtrusive quality. Inside each 100% recycled letter pressed package, sits 3 2oz square votives. Each votive is capped with gorgeously letterpress printed lids wrapped in thin wire. An industrial vintage office style clasp closure attached to the front of each package. Each box contains three of the same subtly scented candle. White soy/bee blend. Approximate burn time is 15 hours per cube. 32.00

Artist Karen Bezuidenhout has painted a new collection of art, in a range of sizes and motifs, just in time for the holidays. Visit us Upstairs or on our Facebook page to see the new gallery.

Karen was born and raised in the wine country of Stellenbosch, South Africa. Drawing and sketching throughout her life, Karen joined a small art school, situated in an old wine cellar, after being consumed by a desire to paint.

A few years later she relocated with her family to California, and continued to paint. She attended a course in painting and color at the college of Marin, and soon after, moved to Santa Barbara.

Karen’s rich, earthy color palette of chocolate browns, olives, ochres and burnt reds has now been complimented with vibrant blues and greens from the ocean, reflecting the influence of her Southern California lifestyle. Her favorite subjects of horses, rolling hills with shanty houses and chickens, have now been accompanied by beach walkers with dogs, seabirds, sailboats and surfers.

Her work has been described as “earthy, soulful and primitive, yet sophisticated.” Her paintings have been featured on the cover of Robert Redford’s Sundance Catalog, in Veranda Magazine and can be found in homes across the United States, in Canada, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Argentina.
